Thank you, Ohio Citizens for the Arts!

The board and staff of the Ohio Arts Council want to extend our thanks and great appreciation to the board, membership and staff of the Ohio Citizens for the Arts for their outstanding work with the Governor and the General Assembly over the winter and spring budget deliberations that have resulted in the exceptional increase to the OAC’s budget for the FY2012/2013 biennium—a 30.5 percent increase to $17.2 million from our FY2010/2011 budget of $13.2 million!  This will truly further our mission of supporting “quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically” and help Ohio’s arts organizations, schools and artists be even more effective in fulfilling their own missions.

It takes the concerted efforts of many people to achieve an increase of this magnitude in a challenging economic environment.  We are so very pleased that your efforts have paid off and after two very difficult biennia, arts and cultural organizations, school and community arts programs, and artists in our great state will see their hard work and the care and concern they put into making the arts accessible to everyone in their communities acknowledged with increased support from the Ohio Arts Council.  I know our constituents are very happy with the additional funding and are looking forward to putting it to work all over Ohio.

So again, thank you for all the valuable time and considerable perseverance you put into accomplishing this marvelous outcome!

With sincere regards,

The Board and Staff of the Ohio Arts Council
